Giancarlo Amici started painting when he was very young, as an autodidact, then he turned to photography. He learned both addictive and subtractive color printing and has photographed with direct light and flash. He started working in the world of advertising and from there went on to the world of fashion, in fact he started off at the Pitti Donna Fashion Show - Florence. By the mid-80s he got interested in creative advertising and communication.In the 90s he did many photo reportages on hair styling, having his works published on several front covers of well renown foreign and italian magazines, due not only to the uniqueness of his pictures, but also to an extraordinary darkroom technique. Presently he lives and works in the Chianti countryside around Florence where he has set up his “Karma studio” producing videos, design, fashion and advertising photography.
